Welcome to my website!

This is where my journey begins as an educator and a student.  Technology can be used for both sectors.  My goal is to make the experience enjoyable and fun.

COMMITMENT TO EDUCATION

As educators, We believe in the transformative power of education to uplift individuals and communities. Our mission is to create an inclusive, engaging environment where all learners feel valued and empowered to reach their full potential. By fostering curiosity, critical thinking, and a lifelong love of learning, we aim to inspire and support students as they grow into thoughtful leaders and changemakers.

TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

(goals and learning)

I believe that deep learning happens when students actively engage with content, each other, and real-world contexts. My approach emphasizes collaborative questioning, problem-solving, and experiential learning rooted in everyday life scenarios, helping students make meaningful connections.

Technology is an essential part of my teaching. I integrate tools like online trivia games, educational websites, discussion boards, and collaborative platforms such as Google Docs to foster interaction, creativity, and real-time collaboration. These tools also allow me to provide timely feedback and support individualized learning paths.

Assessment in my classroom is continuous, authentic, and student-driven. I use self-assessments, online quizzes, and peer evaluations to help students reflect on their progress without the pressure of traditional grading. This approach encourages growth, autonomy, and a love for learning that extends beyond the classroom.

INCORPORATING FEEDBACK FOR THE WEBSITE

The feedback on my website that I received was mostly from Dr. C (Dr. Campbell).  I also would read over the rubric and look at the websites built by my peers for guidance.  The changes that I made from the advice from Dr. C was to minimize the areas that I had lengthy paragraphs that had the potential to lose my audience.  Also with the advice of Dr. C I changed the title of the DEI page, making it more eye catching for the audience.  I rearranged some of the photos and made the font all the same in color and size on the home page for visual esthetics.

CORRECTIONS MADE ON THIS PAGE:

I decreased the amount of language and words under commitment to education and teaching philosophy.  I previously had "about this site" and philosophy separated but I combined them and made the amount of words a lot less.  I also moved the last picture at the bottom and combined it with the section that has the woman playing chess and decreased the size of both photos.  I also changed the size of the section titles to make them match in font and color.  I also changed the font and color of all the lettering to match so the page looks cleaner and more cohesive.

At the bottom of the page where I have my contact information and the creative commons, I decreased the font size and placed the titles over the correct sections.  I also added dividers between sections so it is easier to see where each idea has its own area.  I added a ratings section under the "contact me section" to receive feedback.
